The concept for the company began in the late ‘90s when Liz noticed something was fundamentally missing from the physical training world: heart rate monitoring without chest straps. With no established market leader, she started Mio in 1999 with a vision of bringing the most advanced wrist-based heart rate monitor technology to athletes.

Under Liz’s guidance, Mio has grown to produce innovative products designed for heart rate training and activity monitoring. Today, she stands among the world’s most experienced leaders in heart rate monitoring technology, holding five patents and one patent pending in the fitness and sport performance categories.

Mio Global is now an acclaimed pioneer in sports and fitness wearable technology, creating performance wearables to empower athletes at all levels with the data they need to monitor and improve training intensity. Mio sport bands and watches are equipped with EKG-level accuracy to help athletes set and surmount fitness goals.

Liz’s background includes positions with leading technology companies including Oracle, AT&T, IBM and TELUS. She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business.
