World’s first alpine GPS goggles with head mounted display a favorite among industry experts
Las Vegas, January 11, 2011 – The 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) ended on 9th January following four days of exhibitions from 2,700 consumer electronics companies. Recon Instruments returned to the Vancouver labs highly decorated with a number of honors for both Transcend, Recon Instruments’ first product, and for their next generation technology.
Leading up to CES, Recon Instruments was named an International CES Best of Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for Transcend, the world’s first alpine goggles with GPS data viewable through a head mounted display. The prestigious award was presented following a stringent testing process by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and media.
Whilst at CES, Transcend was also awarded the Popular Mechanics Editor’s Choice award as one of their top twenty products displayed at CES.
Recon Instruments announced their next generation technology at CES, which will boast buddy-tracking, integrated maps and Bluetooth connection to a wireless video camera and smartphone. Popular Science recognized this technology as innovative and cutting-edge naming it their Product of the Future. This was complemented by Mobile Magazine’s 10 Best of CES 2011 award, with Recon Instruments winning the Wearable Technology category.
Dan Eisenhardt, CEO of Recon Instruments said, “CES was extremely successful for Recon Instruments this year. It is always an honor to be recognized by industry experts for innovative products, and to be rewarded by the Consumer Electronics Association and esteemed publications such as Popular Mechanics, Popular Science and Mobile Magazine is a grand tribute to our team. “Thousands of exhibitors were showing the most advanced technology in the world and leaving Las Vegas decorated with these awards after releasing our first of many products just months ago is fantastic.”
