Aaron Boulding is a consultant for the video game industry. His career began as a founding editor for IGN before continuing as a producer, host and writer creating content around video games for the NFL, ESPN, AT&T, DirecTV, Fox Sports and others. Boulding’s legendary 30-year streak of always reaching the second level the first time he plays any arcade game is still intact. He holds degrees from both UC-Berkeley and UC-Santa Barbara.
A 20+ year veteran in the sports and fitness industry, Corey has spent the last 15 years helping Polar reach a market leadership position in the U.S. He has led the marketing and PR efforts to help make Polar a leading sport and fitness brand and then shifted his focus to sales, leading the expansion of Polar products into the Big Box, Mass and Internet channels. Most recently, Corey focuses on new business development and has expanded the Polar footprint into retail electronics by securing a presence in several, leading national chains. Shaheen Kazi is VP of Marketing at Omek Interactive, the leading provider of tools and technology for incorporating gesture recognition and body tracking capabilities into devices and applications. At Omek, Shaheen heads up the company’s corporate and product marketing efforts. Kazi has nearly 20 years of high-technology marketing experience, and a track record that includes the successful launch of several products and solutions in the fields of mobile, media and networking technology. Her rapid rise to industry prominence earned her the accolade of being one of the 2011 Marketing Women to Watch by Mobile Marketer magazine. Shaheen earned her Bachelors at DePaul University and did doctoral coursework at University of Illinois.
Following a ten year NFL career as a quarterback, Jay Fiedler has been involved in various businesses as an owner and consultant in the sports, entertainment, media, and energy industries. Currently, Mr. Fiedler provides independent consulting services to various digital media, social media, event and marketing firms looking to penetrate sports and entertainment verticals. He is a part owner of Archestral, a software and business development company which currently markets a health tracking system called BioWellness. He is an Executive Regional Director for Legends Energy Group providing energy services to demand side companies. He also works with his family’s camping business, Brookwood Camps and PrimeTime Sports Camps, running specialty youth sports camps and traditional summer camp programs. Mr. Fiedler graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Engineering Sciences. He resides in Long Island, New York.
John has spent his 30-year career involved in the startup, management, and growth of consumer products and high-tech businesses, both for major corporations and startups. An electrical engineer by training, John began his career at General Electric, responsible for the engineering and startup of a new product line in GE’s Power Systems division, and later a new telecommunications venture. John also worked at senior levels at Whirlpool Corporation, where as a vice president he was involved in the creation, launch, and marketing of many new products. As President of the Sunbeam Appliance division he created an entire line of “smart” appliances that gained the attention of the global press.
Velocomp was co-founded by John in 2004. A full-fledged “paper-napkin” startup, over the past 7 years Velocomp has invented, patented, manufactured and marketed successive generations of cycling computer products that help bicyclists achieve better fitness through precision measurement and expert guidance.
Jef believes personal wellness is one of the most important trends of our time, at both the personal and societal levels. Formerly CEO at Eye-Fi, Jef guided the company from a 2007 launch to international retail distribution for its device and service. Before that he was GM of audio and gaming at Logitech, where he also worked in U.S. and EMEA marketing. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in communications. Paul Nicholson is a Senior Director of Global Marketing within Motorola Mobility’s Companion Products business. In this role, Paul is responsible for leading the development of product marketing and go to market efforts across the globe. Paul works within the Global Marketing organization that is tasked with building and developing the Motorola product portfolio, including product positioning and go-to-market strategy around the world. Paul has held several positions during his nine year tenure at Motorola, including regional marketing director for the European and then North American Companion Products business units. Opher Pail, President of Fitness Technologies, Inc., a NJ based personal waterproof electronics company, holds numerous patents for successfully commercialized consumer products and is a sought after consultant internationally for his expertise in product and business development. James Park is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for creating great products and companies. Fitbit is the third startup that he has founded. Previously, James was a Director of Product Development at CNET Networks, where he led product management, engineering, and design for Webshots. Before CNET, James was a co-founder of Windup Labs, which was acquired by CNET in 2005, and prior to Windup Labs, he was the co-founder and CTO of Epesi Technologies. James also worked at Morgan Stanley, where he helped develop trading strategies and software for a quantitative trading fund. James never quite finished his computer science degree at Harvard College.
Aleks Ristic started his Internet experience in the late 90s. He went on to co-found surfID AG, a company developing solutions for mobile marketing. By the end of 2002 Aleks had co-founded another start-up, Airloft Ltd., a company that developed GPS products for outdoor and sports use. By 2004, Ristic and his partner sold Airloft to the Brunswick Corporation.
In 2007 Aleks worked as the Director of Navionics Inc’s outdoor mapping division. Subsequent Aleks joined My Guide Holding GmbH, where he was responsible for the company’s Marketing Innovation strategy, and their Business Development. Ristic then initiated the take over of One Step Ahead, a German based software company, and oversaw their partnership with O’Neill, in developing the first GPS based Navigation Jacket.
In 2009 Aleks founded gobandit GmbH, where he currently resides as CEO. In 2010 gobandit introduced the first GPS enabled action camera to the sports market.
Rich Schmelzer is a high-tech industry entrepreneur, investor and the founder and CEO of GeoPalz—a physical activity gaming platform for families. In his 25-year career he is credited with creating four successful companies based on his ideas and patents. In 1993 he was the co-founder of VR1, a massive multi-player gaming platform which powered Microsoft, AOL, Sony and other multi-player gaming environments. Simultaneously he co-founded SkyConnect, the first digital pay-per-view, video on-demand and advertising insertion company, which sold to Oracle founder Larry Ellison’s nCube in 1998. In 1998 Schmelzer started WorldPrints.com, an online print and poster company representing the image collections of National Geographic, Monet, Ansel Adams and thousands of other images and art collections. He sold WorldPrints.com to Excite@Home for $80M in 2000. In 2005, Rich co-founded and became CEO of Jibbitz, a family brand specializing in shoes and decorative accessories with lifetime sales of more than $500M.
John (Ivo) Stivoric is CTO & VP of New Products for BodyMedia. Ivo is one of the company’s original four founders. At BodyMedia, he leads the Advanced Development efforts and directs the Intellectual Property portfolio. Before BodyMedia, Ivo was President, CIO, and co-founder of SANDbOX Advanced Development. He holds an M.S. in Interaction Design, with a concentration in integrated product development and B.F.A. in Industrial Design, with a concentration in sculpture, both from Carnegie Mellon University.
Additionally, Ivo founded two of CMU’s interdisciplinary studios: the Interaction Design Studio at the Institute for Complex Engineered Systems (ICES) and the award-winning Mobile + Wearable Computing Design Studio at the Engineering Design Research Center (EDRC). He is also the co-inventor on over 90 patents internationally.
In his spare time, Ivo drives a monster truck (a Black Dodge Ram 1500 with Hemi), brews a Slijivovica and dances in Kumovi – a Croation performance troupe.
Julie Sylvester, Co-Producer of the Sports Fitness and Outdoors Summit and Exhibit, is on the surface a gym rat but underneath a couch potato. Always looking for the latest technology gadget or training aid that will help her spend less time in the gym and more time on the internet playing video games* while still maintaining the status quo. She started a career in the theatre by relocating from the Midwest to the East Coast and eventually ended up in New York. Her production company Julie & Friends produces private and corporate events as well as fundraisers. She is on the Board of the League of Professional Theatre Women and the Co-Chair for the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the League in 2012.
Rick Wenner is an accomplished fitness educator and has spent the last decade instructing thousands of fitness professionals and consumers on how to properly maintain a healthy lifestyle. Rick has always seen technology as a crucial tool in expanding the possibilities and opportunities within the fitness industry.
